For clients nearing completion of a novel or memoir, Tanya offers structural editing services to address big picture issues, including: pacing, character development, plot, structure, and point of view.

She also helps essay and short story writers and poets with the challenging task of ordering a collection.

PROJECT REVIEW/STORY CONSULTING

For storytellers in the development phase of a narrative project, Tanya will:

   Interview the client re: initial ideas, existing content, goals, and priorities

   Review all relevant content, including written materials, research documents, photographs, and film or audio interviews

   Create interview questions to help the client develop the story and fill in gaps

   Create a story “map” outlining possible story arcs and structural choices

MANUSCRIPT CRITIQUE

Geared for clients looking to develop and revise prose narratives; all genres and lengths are welcome.

Clients receive:

   A thorough review of their draft with detailed marginalia

   A cover letter with global comments that outlines suggestions for revision, questions for further development, and notes re: story arc and structure

WRITING COACHING

For writers in need of ongoing craft instruction and support, Tanya will design a customized plan that includes standard critique services (detailed margin notes, global comments, and suggestions for revision), along with writing exercises and suggested readings.

TEACHING

For writers seeking to improve their skills, Tanya teaches courses on creative writing and professional development for adult students of all levels.
